This is the perfect picture to represent the great depression. It shows that people have so little money that they have to live in something similar to a tent. It also looks like the children there are bored, which was something children faced everyday because theyhad little to no money to buy toys. They also couldn't afford tobuy new clothes or much food.

In this picture is a Negro church. Obviously it is outdoors. It is in a rural setting and it is during the day. There aren’t any people around. The church seems empty. The church does not seem to be in a very good condition. It looks very old. The only things surrounding the church are trees. I feel that the tone of this photograph is negative.

I think that the tone of the picture is negative for a few reasons. One reason I think that is there are no people around. There are no signs of life. Another reason I feel this way is because the church does not look to be in a great condition. These attributes make the mood of this photo very sullen, therefore making the tone of the picture negative.

If could ask two questions to the photographer I would first ask why there were no people around. Next, I would ask how long that church had been around for.

In this picture is a store front, advertising foods and prices. It appears to be daytime. It is too hard to tell whether it is placed in an urban or rural setting. There are no people in the store, walking by the store, or near the store. It does not show anything other than the store front so, I cannot tell what is surrounding it. The first thing that I noticed in the picture was how low the prices in the window were. I fell that the tone of this photo is negative.

I think that the tone of the picture is negative for a few reasons. One reason is that there are no people around buying anything. Another thing is that the prices are so low and there seems to be an excess amount of food in the window. By this I can tell that the owner of this store must have been desperate to sell the food and get money.

If I could meet the photographer and ask two questions first, I would ask why the prices of the foods were so low. Next, I would ask where the people of the town were.

In this picture are two women walking down a long road. It is during the day. The two women are African American. Both of them are wearing dresses. There are no buildings around. There is only grass and little wooden poles running down next to the road. I feel that the tone of this photo is negative.

I think that the tone of the photo is negative for a couple of reasons. One reason is that there is nothing in sight that the women could be trying to reach. They seem to be wandering aimlessly.

If I could ask the photographer two questions, first I would ask where the women were headed to. I would also ask why the women left in the first place.

This is a picture of a Coca-Cola shack. This picture was taken during the day. The thing I see around it are the fireplaces and a type of building. Furthermore, I see a wooden fence and trees in the background. I think the tone of thhis picture is positive. I say this because I think this might be the only place to get Coke so even if people are far away they will come to get a drink. Shivam P

This is a picture of a sidewalk scene in Selma, Alabama. This picture was taken outdoors. the lighting in this piture is pretty good. this picture was taken during the day. I spotted nine poeple in this picture (including the people in the shops). I think these people are in their late 30s. The thing that catches my eye right away is the car. This catches my eye because the car is parked differently than we would normally park it. Furthermore, i see the dog is on the street alone. I think the tone of this picture is negative. I say this because this picutre demonstrates that not everybody had a job. Even, if people had jobs they would be payed a lower wage. Shivam P

This ia a picture of an old slave on a farm near Greensboro, Alabama. This picture was taken indoors. The lighting of this picture is splendid. I say this because I can see the little details in the background. This picture was taken during the day or night. I am on both sides because the sun could have fallen and they might have a light on, or the sun can still be up because of the shadows. There is one man in the picutre and I think that he is African American. My reason for saying this is that because usually most of the slave were African Americans. The thing that caught my sight was the bed they had. This caught my eye because back in the old days only the rich people had beds and the slaves would sleep on the ground. The tone of this picture is both positive and negative. The tone is positive because it shows that the slave was wealthy eniugh to have a bed. This tone is negative because now the ex-slae might not have a place to work at. Shivam P

Part three
Reading these interviews makes me realize how much the times have changed with costs of items, technology, and much more. They said that back then they really didn't have a lot saftey devices and often workers would die. Usually when someone would die their co-workers would say that they must have been doing a really good job because they died working it. The bosses were very chauvanistic to the men and women workers. Whenever someone was looking for a job they had to make sure that it was for there race type.

This picture is of a little boy who is in front of a store where he probably works, he looks like he is seven or eight yearsold. Back then it didn't matter how old you were, you could be any age and still work. Especially if your family needed help with their money problems. It seems like that time was a very dull and dark time.

This picture is from a long time ago, and you can tell that by the horse pulling the wagon. You can also tell by what they are wearing. In the background it shows a large area of land that is all open space and has no buildings in it. You can also see that in the background there are telephone lines so it couldn't have been in the 1600's or 1700's.
